The Second Capital of Maharashtra stands second in Rural Postal Life Insurance Scheme
“NAGPUR stands first in Postal
Life Insurance scheme in
Maharashtra circle and second
in Rural Postal Life Insurance
scheme,” informed Shobha
Madhale, Postmaster General of
Nagpur Postal Area, during a
press conference held at General
Post Office (GPO), Nagpur on
Wednesday.
She was speaking at a press
conference organised on the
occasion of World Post Day.
Shashin Rai Deputy Director of
Press Information Bureau,
Nagpur Office, was also present
on the occasion.
A special cancellation stamp
was also released on this occasion. This year’s World Post Day
theme is ‘150 years of Enabling
Communication and
Empowering People’ as postal
services continue to contribute
in social and economic development.
In her address, Madhale mentioned that postal services was
started globally in 1874 and since
has been continuously providing services to people in different countries. She highlighted
that new rates of interest have
been issued on October 1.
“Postal service departments
have faced many challenges yet
managed to excel in service. As
time changed, various other
forms of services emerged,
but people continued to trust
India Post,” exclaimed
Shashin Rai.
Furthur, Madhale briefly
provided information about
various schemes of Indian
Postal Department including Mahila Samman Savings
Certificate and Postal Life
Insurance Scheme.
“Employees of Nagpur Postal
Service are alsp taking efforts
to reach people in remote
areas of Vidarbha and make
them understand the benefits and procedure of
schemes,” she informed. She
emphasised that more efforts
will be taken on Aadhaar registrations and updation, girl
child empowerment scheme
awareness, appealed public
to take benefits of the State
and Central Governments
schemes through Nagpur
postal sector.
Nagpur region covers 11
districts inVidarbha and has
total 3887 post offices in
main, sub and branch types.
There are a total of 9 Post
Office Passport Seva Kendras
under Nagpur Region.
There are 11 branches of
Indian Post Payment Bank
having 36.70 lakh savings
accounts, out of which
8,75,455 accounts have been
opened during the period
July to September 2024, in
which maximum accounts
being opened under the
Chief Minister Ladki Bahin
Yojana. In the financial year
2024-2025, 3,70,273 Post
Office Savings Accounts have
been opened out of which
33,310 are Sukanya
Samriddhi Accounts.
All post offices in Nagpur
area are available on Darpan
2.0, a digital platform, to
make postal services faster.
An exhibition on the history of postage stamps will
be held on November 28 and
29 at GPO, Civil Lines, where
the information of postal
services, stamp’s printing
process, how to preserve it
and the scope of studying
Philately will be discussed
and shared.
