Render dental services to underpriviledgedrural population, says Dr Ravindra Kolhe

APPEALING the budding graduates
to take initiative in serving the under
privileged population, Padma Shri Dr
Ravindra Kolhe said, “Those living in
tribal areas should be given special
attention as these services are required
over there.” Dr Kolhe was speaking
during the Graduation Day Ceremony
of Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College
and Research Centre. Both he and Dr
Smita Kolhe were the chief guests.
Dr Kolhe expressed regret regarding the conditions of tribal people
who have to travel long distances
to seek relief for their dental
ailments.
“The prevalence of dental diseases
is extremely high owing to lack of
awareness, tobacco habits and high
percentage of fluorides in drinking
water.
Though the conditions are
improving but still there is an urgent
need for health professionals to work
in these areas to take care of the health
care needs of these people,” pointed
out Dr Kolhe. Dr Abhay Kolte, Dean
presented a brief of the institution
where the motto was to create competent Dental health professionals. Dr
Ramakrishna Shenoi, Vice-Dean
spoke on the occasion.

Shenoi, and Mukta Motwani, ViceDean Clinical. Chairperson of the
Interns Monitoring Committee, Dr
Surekha Rathod gave a welcome
speech. PhD awardees were felicitated including Drs Surekha Rathod,
Vrinda Kolte, Ananya Hazare, Apeksha
Balpande,Varsha Manekar, Jaya Joshi,
Tapasya Karemore and Chetana
Makade. Dr Neha Deshpande proposed a vote of thanks. Drs. Rohit
Moharil, Sandeep Khandaitkar, Sudhir
Rawlani, Kushal Fuladi, Smriti
Jagdhari, Jayshree Chahande,
Sangeeta Bhattacharya and others
worked hard.
