TUSHAR Suryavanshi hammered a daddy hundred while
Shreyansh Gupta slammed 93
as already qualified for the
knock-outs, Vidarbha U-19
boys thumped Pondicherry by
184 runs in the Vinoo Mankad
(One-Day) Trophy in their last
Group B match at the St
Stephen’s Ground, New Delhi.
Vidarbha, who were already
assured of a pre-quarter-final
berth, finished with 16 points,
behind Mumbai (20 points).
The team will travel to Rajkot
for the pre-quarter-final match.
Vidarbha piled up 344-4 in
their allotted 50 overs after winning the toss and electing to
bat first. Suryavanshi led the
charge with a magnificent 165
off 147 balls, hitting five sixes
and 20 boundaries. He shared
a 207-run partnership for the
third wicket off just 206 balls
with Shreyansh Gupta (93).
Shreyansh was unlucky to
miss out on his century but his
knock off 94 balls and was laced
with nine boundaries and three
sixes.
Vendant Dighade lashed an
unbeaten 39 off only 14 deliveries, four of which he dispatched over the boundary
rope.
Pondicherry were never in
the race to chase down
Vidarbha’s mammoth tally and
they were bowled out for 160
in 33.5 overs. Aditya Titirmare
scalped four wickets for 45,
while Sanskar Chavate and
Malhar Dosi accounted for two
each.
