ADHYAYAN Daga missed out on a fine century as six batters scored half centuries and four bowlers grabbed fifers on the opening day of the Vidarbha Cricket Association organised Guzder A Division Two-Day League Tournament being played at different grounds of the city. While Daga missed his century by four runs for XI Star Cricket Club, Shantanu Rajput (86), Sachin Katariya (68) (both Ruby Colts), Bharat Naidu (60, XI Star), Aditya Ahuja (56, Navniketan) and Vandit Joshi (77, Anurag Cricket Club, Kamptee) scored half centuries for their respective teams. As for bowlers, four claimed five wickets each for their teams. Aditya Kukde (5-67, Advocate XI), Aaditya Khilote 5-89, Pravin Rokade 5-73 (both Reshimbagh Gymkhana) and Himanshu Shinde (5-77, Anurag Cricket Club Kamptee) took a five-wicket haul each.
 
At the Pandav College Cricket Ground, Umred Road, Ruby Colts rode Rajput’s 86 from 99 balls (6x4, 6x6) and Parag Jadhav’s 33 (45b, 2x4, 2x6) to post 262 in their first innings against Advocate XI. In reply, Advocate XI were in deep trouble as they were bundled out for a meagre 93 and were 2-0 while following-on in the second innings. Adhyayan Daga’s 96 for XI Star with the help of 11 boundaries and two sixes apart from Bharat Naidu 60 (10x4) lifted their side to 278 against Medical Representative Cricket Club at Gurunanak Pharmacy ground. In reply, MRCC were 34-0 with openers Apoorva Wankhade (19) and Zubaroddin (14) holding the fort. Indian Gymkhana posted 211 against Reshimbagh Gymkhana at VCA Jamtha Stadium with Vidarbha discard Sanjay Ramaswamy scoring 43 runs, Aniruddha Choudhary 41 and Vaibhav Chandekar 46). Reshimbagh were 65-3 at the end of day’s play. Kedar Jagtap (32) and Shreeyog Pawar (12) were at crease. Navniketan Cricket Club posted 241 against Anurag Cricket Club, Kamptee in their first innings with a half century from Ahuja at Shree Sports Ground in Yerla. The other run getters were Akshay Agrawal (47) and Varun Palandurkar (40). Anurag had scored 125 for two in reply with Yash Sharma (33) and Vandit Joshi (77) scoring the runs. Joshi had hammered 12 boundaries and three sixes.
