Vidarbha girls registered a huge win over Odisha in their Group E league match of the U-15 One-Day Trophy in Bhilai on Wednesday.
The 100-run win boosted their net run-rate and their chances of qualification for the knock-out stage. After going down to Gujarat in their opening game, Vidarbha girls have notched up three victories (against Jharkhand, Manipur and Odisha) in a row and have 12 points from four matches. They have an NRR of 1.614 and are currently second in the league table. Gujarat are leading the table with 12 points with a better NRR of 1.956.
Vidarbha will play their last league game against Mizoram on coming Friday.
Against Odisha, Vidarbha scored 202-4 in their 35 overs after they won the toss.
Kadambari Thakre (52, 80 balls, 4x6) was the top scorer.
Opener Arya Pongde (45, 46 balls, 4x5, 6x2) continued her good show with the bat, while Sakshi contributed 22 and Swara Thakare remained unbeaten on 35 .
Odisha were never in the chase after losing early wickets. Swara Thakare (2-13) and Sakshi (2-11) did most of the damage with the ball as Odisha managed 102-8.
