Over 20,000 Gas victims get Ayushman cards

As of Thursday, a total of 20,027 Bhopal Gas tragedy victims have received Ayushman cards under this scheme. The gas victims and their children are being offered free treatment and necessary facilities at six hospitals and nine dispensaries operating under the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department. According to officials, the state government has been providing benefits of Ayushman ‘Niramayam’ Madhya Pradesh scheme to the gas victims and their children. Additionally, they are also receiving healthcare services at all contracted hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ Madhya Pradesh scheme. In special cases, when the treatment exceeds the package amount defined by the scheme, the hospital is reimbursed for the extra expenses by the Gas Relief Department. Special provisions are also being made for gas victims and their children who require treatment for severe conditions such as kidney and liver transplants, as well as other critical diseases.
 
For cancer treatment, the Gas Relief Department has signed agreements with three private hospitals and AIIMS Bhopal. Gas victims are provided with free cancer treatment at these facilities. The State-of-the-art emergency units are operating 24/7 at all hospitals under Gas Relief Department to treat gas victims and their children. Additionally, a dialysis unit has been set up at Kamla Nehru Hospital, Bhopal, for patients with kidney diseases (CKD-IV) and critically ill patients, with 13 dialysis machines providing free treatment. Moreover, gas-affected widows (Kalyaanis) who are beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme are also being given an additional Rs 1,000 per month by the Gas Relief Department, on top of their regular pension. Currently, around 4,406 gas victim widows are receiving this additional pension.
