ASSISTANT Police Inspector (API) Manoj S Choudhary of Nagpur (Rural) Police, presently attached to Mouda Police Station, has been awarded ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ for the year 2024 for excellence in investigation.
While posted at Katol Police Station, API Choudhary was the Investigation Officer in
the Rajkumari Mangalsingh Sayam rape and murder case in 2021. Rajkumari Sayam (25) was raped and murdered by Amleshkumar Shambhu Mandal (20), a native of Gaddi, tehsil Raghopur, district Supaul, Bihar, on October 05, 2021.
A case under Section 302, 354, 354(b), 376 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Amleshkumar at Katol Police Station.
With his professional skills, API Choudhary probed the sensational case and collected concrete evidence against Amleshkumar and filed a chargesheet against him. With the evidence collected by API Choudhary and the statements of the witnesses in the case, the court on October 4, 2023 convicted Amleshkumar and awarded life imprisonment for the heinous crime committed by him.
Considering the outstanding investigation conducted by API Choudhary, the Government of Maharashtra recommended his name for ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ to the Union Home Ministry.
