CITY’S international paddler Jennifer Varghese clinched a gold medal at the 51st All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championships at Chandigarh conducted by Table Tennis Federation of India.
Representing Maharashtra, Jennider clinched the gold medal in women’s doubles event.
Partnering Taneesha Kotecha, Jennifer, defeated the pair of Oishiki Joradar and Swastika Ghosh of AAI in three straight games with the scoreboard reading 11-8, 11-1, 11-7.
Earlier in the semi-final, they defeated the pair Prapti Sen and Kaushini Nath (both RSPB) 11-7, 11-2, 7-11, 6-11, 11-3.
In quarters, they beat Ananya Chande and Vanshika Deshpande of CRSB 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 in three straight games after getting a first round by in the competition.
