The members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) under the leadership of NSUI State Secretary, Adnan Ansari, on Thursday, submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Rani Durgavati University, demanding immediate arrangements of health services in the university campus.
It may be mentioned that an employee who had come to submit the examination booklet from Hawabagh College in the examination department of the university, met untimely death in a tragic incident in lack of timely medical intervention after his health deteriorated. This incident has raised serious questions on the availability of better health services in the university.
The NSUI took up this matter seriously.
The NSUI members said that when the employee's health deteriorated, the ambulance arrived after about one and a half hours. In lack of medical facility and emergency vehicle in the examination department, the employee could not be taken to the hospital, due to which he lost his life. This incident exposed the negligence of the university administration towards health services.
NSUI State Secretary, Ansari said that the post of health officer is approved in the university, but this post is vacant for a long time.
The administration’s indifferent attitude towards the health and safety of students and employees is deeply condemnable.
Hundreds of students, employees and officers come to the university campus. In such a situation, appointment of a doctor in the health center is essential. Availability of an ambulance should be ensured round the clock in the campus so that timely medical assistance can be provided in case of emergency. Financial assistance should be given to the family of the employee affected by his untimely death so that they can lead their lives respectfully.
NSUI has demanded the Vice Chancellor to take immediate action in this matter and make proper arrangements for health services in the university so that such tragic incidents can be avoided in future.
