Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the seven housing projects of Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) under Atal Vihar Yojana at the Chief Minister’s House in Raipur on Sunday. Talking to media persons at the office of the CGHB in the state capital, Commissioner of the Housing Board Kundan Kumar said that the seven housing projects have been launched by the Chief Minister at the Chief Minister’s House on Sunday. These housing projects have been launched with the aim of realising the vision of ‘Housing for All’. These housing projects have been launched at seven different places in Bhurkoni-Raipur, Patharra-Rajim, Khartuli-Dhamtari, Sihad-Dhamtari, Pulgaon-Durg, Gurur-Balod, and Kokdapara-Bijapur. First class houses will be built. 1,650 houses including EWS, LIG and MIG houses will be constructed at the cost of around Rs 340 crore at these seven places.
 
Chhattisgarh Government has set an ambitious target of large-scale housing construction underAtal Vihar Yojana. Under this scheme, construction work will be done on 4450 acres of land in various districts of the state. Under the scheme, land is being allotted by the government to the Housing Board at the rate of one rupee per square foot. The state government will give a grant of Rs 80,000 to EWS families and Rs 40,000 to LIG families. Kumar said that the low income group will benefit greatly from these projects. Commissioner Kundan Kumar told that in these projects, houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs 61 crore in Bhurkoni, Raipur, Rs 30 crore in Kokdapara of Bijapur, Rs 26 crore in Khastuli in Dhamtari, Rs 27 crore in Sihad (Bhakhara) of Dhamtari, Rs 62 crore in Patharra Rajim, Rs 104 crore in Pulgaon Durg and Rs 30 crore in Gurur of Balod district.
 
The objective of Atal Vihar Yojana is to provide affordable and quality housing facilities to every citizen. In this scheme, maximum buildings will be constructed and allotted to people of low and weak income groups. This scheme will prove to be a milestone in the development of the state, said the Commissioner. 50,000 houses will be constructed by the Housing Board within few years. Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sai said one year of the State government is about to be completed. On this occasion, Atal Vihar Yojana has been launched by the State government so that houses can be provided at affordable rates to the needy, especially the people in urban areas. Minister for Finance and Housing and Environment Department O P Choudhary, Secretary to Chief Minister P Dayanand, Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Basavraju S, Commissioner of the Housing Board Kundan Kumar and other officials were present.
