S Krishna Chaitanya, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, on Wednesday conducted a site inspection of ongoing construction activities for the Bhopal Metro Priority Corridor. The inspection covered the stretch from Rani Kamalapati Station to Subhash Nagar Station, along with a visit to the Subhash Nagar Depot.
Chaitanya held a review meeting to assess the progress of construction work in various packages, including BH-02 (Subhash Nagar to AIIMS Station), BH 03 (Elevated Corridor Karond Chauraha to Sindhi Colony & Aishbagh to Pulbogda), and BH-06 (Subhash Nagar Depot).
The MD took a close look at key metro infrastructure, including entry and exit points, escalators, control rooms, tracks, and passenger amenities. He discussed the need for ensuring the quality and timeliness of construction and urged the officials and contractors to work with greater urgency. He emphasized the importance of completing all pending civil and system work at the stations so that metro train operations can begin as soon as possible.
Chaitanya also focused on increasing greenery at the depot. He encouraged planting trees that are beneficial to the public, instead of just ornamental ones.
Additionally, he instructed the speedy completion of the Skywalk project at Rani Kamalapati Station, which will connect the metro station with other transport services under the metro’s multi-modal connectivity plan. The inspection also included a detailed discussion on the structural quality of the project, adherence to safety standards, station designs, and both internal and external aesthetics. Chaitanya directed officials to ensure all tasks are completed on time to guarantee the metro’s safe and efficient operation.
The inspection was attended by senior officials including Shobhit Tandon, Director (Systems), Ajay Gupta, Director (Projects), as well as representatives from the General Consultant and metro construction contractors.
