The Government’s strategic initiatives to make the region a hub for investment are starting to pay off as a renowned company has recently taken a significant step forward to establish its mega project in the Butibori industrial area. Promising to further boost the region’s economic growth and create numerous opportunities for local businesses and the youths, the company is in its advanced stage of investing huge amounts to set up mega projects. JSW Energy PSP Eleven Ltd and JSW Group of companies have proposed to invest Rs 25,000 crore in the area. Out of which, Rs 20,000 crore will be invested in lithium ion cells/ battery plant while remaining Rs 5,000 crore in CPV and ancillaries. The proposed plants may generate employment opportunities for 5,000 persons. JSW Group has recently sent a letter to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) requesting allotment of 550 to 600 acres land to set up its mega project in additional Butibori industrial estate.
 
“In continuation to our previous site visits to the Additional Butibori area (MIDC), and subsequent meeting in first week of November, we requested for the allotment of approximately 550-600 acres of land for our upcoming ‘Ultra Mega’ unit project,” stated the company in a letter to the MIDC. Earlier, in July, the State Government offered land to the company in the Butibori area. Accordingly, a team of senior officers of the Group visited the area and in the following meeting, they finalised the site. Manohar Pote, Regional Officer, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, confirmed the development and said all formalities will be completed within next 30-35 days. Pote said JSW Group has shown its interest in a piece of land near the land allotted to Avaada Group in additional Butibori area. “As the required land is available, we are now sending a proposal to the Land Allotment Committee for final approval,” he said.
 
Sources told The Hitavada that as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was personally following the matter, the land allotment is likely to happen very soon. In the first phase, JSW Group was planning to establish a battery plant which will cater to applications ranging from mobile devices to electric vehicles. The facility is expected to expand in later phases to produce a broader range of products, further boosting the region’s industrial profile.
