In a proactive effort to address traffic congestion and reduce accidents, Collector Dr Gaurav Singh and SSP Dr Lal Umed Singh conducted an on-foot inspection of major roads in the capital city. The initiative aimed to identify bottlenecks, enforce regulations, and streamline traffic flow across Raipur. During their inspection, the Collector and SP instructed the immediate removal of kiosks, carts, and vehicles parked in no-parking zones. Temporary rotaries were ordered to be installed at squares and intersections lacking traffic management structures. Instructions were also given to repair potholes, complete patchwork, and remove old vehicles, poles, and electric boxes obstructing traffic. The authorities emphasised the importance of trimming overgrown trees and removing flex banners and hoardings encroaching on roads.

The inspection began at Ghadi Chowk and extended to Devendra Nagar, Shankar Nagar, and Khamardih Chowk. The officials directed the removal of encroachments, installation of temporary rotaries, and pruning of trees in these areas. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra, District Panchayat CEO Vishwadeep, RTO Ashish Devangan, DSP Gurjeet Singh, and other senior officials accompanied the Collector and SP during the inspection. As part of the broader plan to streamline traffic, several specific interventions were outlined for key locations in the city. These include constructing permanent rotaries and dividers at major intersections like Banjari Chowk, Lakhe Nagar Chowk, and Aamapara Chowk. High-mast lights will be installed to improve visibility, and service roads are planned for areas like Krishna Kunj and Ring Road No. 1 to alleviate traffic pressure. Additionally, adjustments to existing traffic signals and the relocation of obstructions at key junctions were recommended to ensure smoother vehicle movement. The Collector and SP stressed the importance of timely implementation of these measures to improve the city’s traffic system. Their initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing road safety and easing traffic woes for Raipur’s residents.
