Indore Lokayukta catches ASI accepting bribe in trap operation

In a decisive action against corruption, the Indore Lokayukta unit successfully conducted a trap operation on December 27, following strict instructions from the Director General of Lokayukta, Jaydeep Prasad. The operation led to the arrest of an Assistant Sub-Inspector for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The applicant, Yash Chavre, a 25-year-old Regkeeper working in Ward No. 79, Zone No. 21, Vidur Nagar, Indore, filed a complaint alleging that Rohit Pathrod, a 34-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector in the same ward, demanded the bribe in exchange for releasing his salary for the months of November and December 2024 and assigning him driving duties while still holding the position of Regkeeper. Lokayukta team confirmed its authenticity and set up a trap. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the Rs 5,000 bribe. Rohit Pathrod has been charged under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further legal proceedings are underway. The operation was carried out by a team of officials including Inspector Rahul Gajbhiye, Sub-Inspector Renu Agrawal, and Constables Rakesh Mishra, Vijay Kumar, Shiv Parashar, Anil Parmar, and Kamlesh Tiwari. This successful operation highlights the Lokayukta’s continued commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability in public offices.
