A violent clash erupted on Saturday in Barkheda Salam village, located in the Khajuri police station area, over a land demarcation issue. Tensions escalated when villagers clashed with the land seller’s side, leading to stone-pelting. Amid the chaos, the wife of a farmer involved in the dispute consumed poison, worsening the situation. The dispute in Barkheda Salam started when it was revealed that a farmer’s brother had sold his land without his knowledge. The land in question has been pending for resolution at the
SDM office due to a previous dispute. The conflict intensified when the farmer’s family and the land buyer’s side clashed over the land’s demarcation (survey). The villagers alleged discrepancies in the land settlement and demarcation process, claiming there had been irregularities. An administrative team arrived to conduct the land demarcation, but villagers started protesting and creating a ruckus. During the protest, stones were thrown at the team, and there was an attack on the administrative officials. Angry farmers even targeted the vehicle of Special DG Shailesh Singh with stones. Amid the chaos, the farmer’s wife, distressed by the escalating situation, consumed poison. Upon receiving the news, the police quickly responded and attempted to control the situation. TI Neeraj Verma confirmed that additional police forces were deployed to maintain peace. The police and administrative officials worked together to calm the protesting villagers, and the situation was brought under control.
