After overnight rain, Bhopal got a stormy start on Saturday. The strong winds accompanied the Bhopalites’ shiver. Power cuts were also recorded at several locations due to the same. However, suncame out in the afternoon after which the Weather Department issued a warning for thunderstorms. However, no rainfall was recorded in the evening hours while writing this report. A surge in relative humidity levels was also recorded in the city after the rain, making the weather uncomfortable for citizens.
 
The relative humidity levels were recorded at 96 and 81 in the morning and evening respectively. Going by the predictions, the city is expected to witness rainfall on Sunday with the day being cloudy. Orange alerts have been forecasted for thunderstorm/gusty winds (40-50 kmph)/hailstorm in Rewa, Mauganj, Katni, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Sagar, Chhatarpur and Tikamgarh. Also yellow alerts have been issued for Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Dewas, Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Singrauli, Sidhi, Satna, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Panna, Damoh, Niwari, Maihar and Pandhurna. According to IMD, maximum temperatures fell appreciably in districts of Narmadapuram division; rose appreciably in districts of Rewa, Sagar divisions; rose markably in districts of Gwalior division and no significant changes in the districts of remaining divisions.
 
They rose above normal in districts of Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur divisions; rose appreciably above normal in districts of Gwalior, Rewa, Shahdol, Sagar divisions and remained normal in all the remaining divisions of the state. Hailstorm was recorded in Barwani, Ratlam, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Khargone, Sheopur Kalan, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Pandhurna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh. Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in districts of Jabalpur, Shahdol divisions and no significant changes in the districts of remaining divisions. They rose markably above normal in districts of Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Gwalior, Rewa, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Sagar divisions. Shallow to Moderate Fog prevailed in Indore, Bhind, Morena, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Chhindwara, Rewa Districts. Significantly, the State capital recorded a maximum temperature at 23.4 degrees Celsius whereas the minimum temperature dipped to 17.8 degrees Celsius. In State, Talun in Barwani recorded the highest temperature at 31.7 degrees Celsius whereas Narsinghpur registered the lowest temperature with 11.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
 
As per information, western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir persists and now seen between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level with a trough aloft in upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 9.1 km above mean sea level runs roughly along Long. 72°E to the north of Lat. 15°N. The induced cyclonic circulation lies over south Haryana & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. Subtropical westerly Jet Stream with core winds of the order upto 203 kmph at 12.6 km above mean sea level continues to prevail over North India. A trough in easterlies runs from North Konkan to Punjab across central parts of Rajasthan and eastern Gujarat region at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Another fresh western disturbance in succession is likely to affect western Himalayan region from January 3.
