CITY’S pride WGM Divya
Deshmukh played a big role
in the Indian women team’s
historic title triumph at the
Chess Olympiad at Budapest,
Hungary, in September.
Divya became the World
Junior Chess champion and
soon graduated to the senior
level representing India in the
year gone by. At the Olympiad,
Divya was the lone Indian player to play all 11 rounds. She
remained unbeaten throughout
the event and recorded eight
wins and three draws. She garnered 9.5 points and clinched
the Board 3 individual gold
medal.
