THE National Statistics Office
(Field Operations Division),
Regional Office, Nagpur, organised one-day training camp on
Annual Survey of Industries (ASI)
on Monday in association with
MIDC Industrial Association
(MIA House), at MIDC Hingna,
Nagpur. Srinivas Uppala, Deputy
Director General, NSO (FOD),
Zonal Office, Nagpur inaugurated the programme. Ajay Agrawal,
Vice President MIA was also present in inaugural session. On the
occasion, Agrawal assured full
cooperation from the MIDC
Industries Association (MIA) and
requested the all factory owners
to co-operate with National
Statistics Office (Field Operations
Division), Regional Office,
Nagpur for providing appropriate and correct information for
compiling the ASI returns.
Distinguished guests and participants were welcomed by
Ranga Sreenivasulu, Joint
Director, National Statistics
Office (Field Operations
Division), Regional Office,
Nagpur. He briefed the participants about the importance of
the Annual Survey of Industries.
The survey has been started with
an issues of notices on October
4, 2024 for all selected units/factories for submission of ASI
return under the provisions of the
Collection of Statistics Act, 2008(7
of 2009) as amended in 2017 &
Rules framed there under in 2011.
Srinivas Uppala, in his inaugural address stated that the
Annual Survey of Industries is
the principal source of Industrial
Statistics in India.
It plays a key
role in assessing the changes in
the growth and structure of the
registered units in the manufacturing sector. As, It provides data
on various vital aspects of the registered factories for use in the estimation plan of National Income,
preparation of WPI weightage
diagram, studies of industrial
structure and policy formulation
by Central/State Government
among others.
The purpose of this training
programme was to create general awareness and publicity
amongst the factory owners,
besides, self e-compilation and
submission of ASI return.
Sushil Mohan, Sr. Statistical
officer, conducted the proceedings while Md. Mohatsim, Sr.
Statistical officer, NSO (FOD),
Zonal Office, Nagpur, proposed
the vote of thanks.
