RTMNU sports meet gets under way
 
THE Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s (RTMNU) Annual Inter-College Sports Meet commenced at the Ravi Nagar Sports Complex on Wednesday. With approximately 3,000 students from university-managed and affiliated colleges competing in 37 events over four days. “Sports build discipline and character,” said Dr Rajendra Kakade, Pro Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge), RTMNU, during his address. He stressed the need to involve more students in sports and assured enhanced facilities for athletes.
 
The event was inaugurated by Dr Yogesh Bhute, Member of the University Management Council, RTMNU. Prominent guests included Harish Paliwal, Finance and Accounts Officer, RTMNU, Dr Sanjay Choudhari, Senate Member, and Dr Vishakha Joshi, Director (In-Charge), Board of Physical Education and Sports, RTMNU. The programme began with the lighting of the sports torch by Adarsh Bhure, Saurabh Tiwari, Tejaswini Lambakane and Ashutosh Bawane. Neha Dabale and Nayan Sarde led the oath-taking ceremony, promoting fair play and dedication among participants. Dr Vishakha Joshi provided details of its organisation, and shared highlights of the previous year’s achievements. Dr Aditya Soni conducted the programme while Dr Sanjay Choudhari proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Dhananjay Welukar, senior member, Board of Physical Education and Sports, Dr Madhavi Mardikar, Head, Postgraduate Department of Physical Education and Sports, Dr Vivebanand Singh, Dr Nitin Jangitwar, Dhanshree Lekurwale, and Dr Vijay Datarkar were also present on the occasion.
