ATHLETES from District Training Centre, Nagpur bought laurels to city by their excellent performance at the 29th State-level Acrobatics Gymnastics Tournament conducted by Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association at Hanuman Vyyam Prasarak Mandal, Amravati, recently. Two athletes Prachi Parkhi and Alfia Khan have been selected in the senior group for nationals to be held in Kerala later this year. The team was successful in bagging six golds, six silver and 11 bronze medals at the State meet.
The players train under the guidance of Purushottam Darvankar, Secretary, Gymnastics Association and coaches Mukesh Ghyar and Rishikesh Warade at District Training Centre in Mankapur. The players who won medals are: Prachi Parkhi and Alfia Khan (senior group women’s pair gold), Avni Rathore and Khanak Jain (junior group women’s pair gold), Tanay Dhopede and Aditya Patil (junior group men’s pair gold), Abhaya Thakre and Nikshunj Kapgate (junior group mix pair bronze) and Garima Wardhe, Sambodhi Hirekhan and Akshyani Thakre (junior group women’s group bronze).
Deputy Director of Sports Shekhar Patil, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, President of Gymnastics Association Subhash Gangreddiwar, Vice-President Kamal Sharma, Taluka Sports Officer Sapte, Sports Officer Maya Duble, Anil Borwar, Varsha Kharabe congratulated the players and coaches for their performance.
