IN A daring burglary at the office of well-known astrologer Dr Shrikant Jadhav in Ajni Police Station area, a gang of thieves took away a steel vault containing silver rings studded with gemstones, precious and semi-precious stones and other valuables collectively worth Rs nine lakh in the small hours of Friday. The incident came to light around 10.30 am when Dr Jadhav’s manager Anil Bhoyar came to open the office at Jyoti Apartment Flat No. 477, ‘Sarthak,’ Plot No 1, Ujjwal Society, Shree Nagar and was shocked to find the locks of the iron grill and main door broken. Dr Jadhav’s driver-cum-worker Prakash Yelekar and receptionist Vishakha Kukde and maidservant Dimple Sonone also came to the office and were shocked to find the broken door and grill locks. After Bhoyar informed Dr Jadhav about the incident, he and his wife Sheetal also came to the office and were shocked to find the office ransacked and a steel vault weighing about 60 kilogram kept in a wooden almirah missing.

Dr Jadhav checked the footage of the CCTV camera and found two men breaking open the grill and door locks and entering into the office at around 1.15 am. He immediately informed the police. Staff from Ajni Police Station led by
Senior PI Ashok Bhandare arrived at the spot and started investigation. Jadhav, who has been practicing Vedic Astrology for the past 27 years and also specialises in palmistry, numerology, face reading and Vastu Shastra, also runs a firm -- Sai Gems & Jewellers -- and operates from the same office. Till late night, police were groping in dark about the gang involved in stealing the steel vault containing gemnstomes and other valuables.
