Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday inaugurated an incubation facility at STPI-Nagpur to promote entrepreneurship and IT exports from the state of Maharashtra and cater to the needs of the local IT industry. Keeping in view the growing demand from IT, ITeS, startups, entrepreneurs and SMEs, the STPI has set up the incubation facility of about 28,151 square feet area in with 229 plug-and-play seats. The incubation facility will be used as a resource centre by entrepreneurs and IT / ITeS units to provide plug and play incubation facility, and high-speed data communication, thereby creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for the IT-educated masses of the region.
 
This incubation centre in Nagpur is a step towards facilitating and assisting the dynamic entrepreneurs of Maharashtra to explore global opportunities. The objective behind the initiative is to make the region one of the preferred IT destinations and attract IT / ITeS units to the State; to promote the export of IT software and services from the region, thus contributing to the gross national export; to provide statutory services under the Software Technology Parks (STP) and Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTP) scheme; to provide high-speed data communication and other value-added services; and encourage the creation of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
