AFTER a long dry spell, warning of low intensity thunderstorm over State will again infuse life into the parched farmland on February 11 and 12. Weathermen has warned of thunderstorm accompanied lightning at isolated places which will revive the rainfall activities for six days from Sunday. The nearly weeklong isolated rainfall is mainly attributed to the moisture incursion taking place in lower level over the state. According to the district-wise forecast, Raipur, Bemetara and Kabirdham will receive scattered rainfall of light to very light intensity on Sunday. Balodabazar, Gariaband, Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Pendra Road and Mungeli districts are expected to record isolated rainfall.

On the other hand, fairly widespread rainfall is expected at Durg, Balod and Rajnandgaon districts on Sunday. In the warning issued for February 12, rainfall activities is expected in the districts under Surguja and Bilaspur division. Scattered rainfall is likely in Surguja, Jashpur, Koriya, Surajpur and Balrampur districts. Pendra Road, Bilaspur, Mungeli and Korba under Bilaspur division. However Raigarh, and Janjgir is expected to receive light rainfall at one or two places.

 

In contrast to the daylong hot conditions, the nights are relatively cooler across State. Though the impact of sunrays is felt during the daytime, after sunset conditions become pleasant under the influence of light cool breeze. With wintry conditions still prevalent, the minimum temperature across the state has remained below normal. Ambikapur was the coldest city in State recording minimum of 5.8 degree Celsius closely followed by Pendra Road at 9.6 degrees. Similarly, highest maximum of 32.0 degrees was recorded at Jagdalpur while Raipur was also one notch above normal at 31.2 degrees. In the overall forecast, light rainfall is expected at some places in the state on February 11. After the early morning mist, the sky will remain partly cloudy over Raipur.
