BHILAI,
In a significant move following the Shivam Sao murder case in Bhilai, the administration finally took action by demolishing the houses of the accused on Monday. The Bhilai Municipal Corporation’s Zone-3 team spearheaded this operation after Section 144 was imposed in the Camp-2 and its adjacent areas. It’s worth mentioning that a few days ago, miscreants in Camp 2, Baikunthdham, brutally murdered 12th-grade student Shivam Sao with a knife. Subsequently, the police promptly arrested five suspects and remanded them to jail. Among those whose houses were demolished on Monday include Motin B, Siyanand Chauhan and Lutan Prasad Chauhan.
Prior to the demolition, the police and Municipal Corporation had requested relevant families to submit documents related to land ownership. However, the documents presented revealed illegal construction, leading to the demolition of the accused’s houses. Officials stated that families of the accused received a second notice on February 8, requesting verification of land-related documents they had submitted. As per the Additional Tehsildar of Bhilai city, the encroached land comprised 19.40 square metres of allocated land and an additional 72 square metres of encroachment. The accused were given a deadline of three days to remove the illegal construction. Upon expiry of the deadline, the municipal corporation acted under the Municipal Corporation Act, 1956.
Addressing a recent gathering, MLA Rikesh Sen asserted that bulldozers would roll over the houses of Shivam Sao’s murderers. Sen emphasised a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of crime, particularly against women, in the Vaishali Nagar constituency. He warned that anyone found engaging in criminal activities, especially under the influence of alcohol, would not be spared. During the operation, CSP Ashish Chandrakar, Tehsildar Gurudutt Panchbhai, along with a significant police force and municipal staff, were present at the scene.
