A FUEL tanker of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) crushed a motorcyclist to death at Chichbhuvan Chowk on Wardha Road Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased, Ankit Shrilal Lillare (22) was a resident of Vaishnavi Park area. Ankit was a native of village Jam, tehsil Waraseoni, district Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
Ankit was going on a motorcycle
(MH-02/AZ-8411) around 3.15 pm. At Chichbhuvan Chowk on Wardha Road, a fuel tanker (MH-31/CQ-7353) hit his motorbike. Ankit fell off the bike and came under the wheels of the tanker.
He was killed instantaneously. A huge crowd of onlookers gathered as the body was lying on the spot for almost 45 minutes.
Staff from Beltarodi Police Station arrived at the spot. After the panchnama, the body was despatched to Government Medical College & Hospital for autopsy.
After recording the statement of Sawan Lillare (32),brother of the deceased, Beltarodi Police arrested the tanker driver on charges under Sections 279 and 304(A) of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
