On the auspicious occasion of Prakatotsav of Maa Narmada, a sacred ceremony was organised where a 1100-feet-long Chunri was offered to Maa Narmada. Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister Vishwas Sarang, PWD Minister Rakesh Singh and Swami Girishanand Saraswati, along with many other saints and local leaders participate in the religious event. Earlier, Minister Rakesh Singh along with BJP MLAs and others carried the palanquin of Maa Narmada from Retnaka to Umaghat. On the occasion, Singh said tens of thousands of people gathered at Gaurighat to witness the darshan of Maa Narmada.
He said all the saints collectively performed the worship and archana of Maa Narmada. Significant changes were also observed along the banks of the river Narmada on the day. As part of the celebration, all the VIPs parked their vehicles at Retnaka and walked to the Narmada banks. Likewise, special arrangement for bhandara was made much away from the banks of river Narmada this year.
Rakesh Singh while considering the challenges faced by devotees undertaking the pilgrimage of Maa Narmada, said it is vital to develop Narmada Parikrama Paths on both sides of the river exclusively for pedestrians. In this path, no vehicles would be allowed and only pedestrians could walk. Although this idea is currently part of imagination, it is a significant project and a grand plan, so it remains a conceptual proposal at this stage, he added.
