Fire at furniture unit in Besa,property worth crores destroyed

 

 

 

 

 

 

A MASSIVE fire broke out at Vaidya Industries Pvt Ltd, located on Besa-Ghogli road, on Wednesday evening, resulting in destruction of material worth crores of rupees. The manufacturing unit, situated on the banks of a nullah, is known for producing a wide range of furniture, including office furniture. The fire, which started around 5.30 pm, quickly escalated. The employees ran away from the unit for their life. The information was given to the Beltarodi police and Fire Department officials. Three fire tenders from various stations, including the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) led by Chief Fire Officer, rushed to the spot.

 

The ongoing firefighting operation led to the jamming of the BesaGhogli road and caused inconvenience to commuters. The intensity of the fire produced billowing smoke that could be seen from kilometers away. A Fire Department official stated, “The fire fighting operation was challenging due to the sheer scale of the blaze and the presence of flammable materials within the company premises. The road closure compounded the difficulties faced by the firefighting teams.” There were no casualties, so far, he added. The Fire Department officials intensified the operation by pressing nine fire tenders in the firefighting operation after 8 pm. The initial assessment by fire officials pointed towards a potential short circuit as the cause of the fire, although a comprehensive investigation is expected to determine the exact reason.

 

The operation continued late into the night as firefighters battled the flames fueled by a substantial amount of wooden material stored within the manufacturing unit. The company assesses the extent of the damage and the police and fire department officials are investigating the case of the incident. The traffic on Manewada toGhogali and Pipala to Besa wasseverely affected due to the firein the evening hours. Staff of Beltarodi police station led by Sr Police InspectorMukunda Kawade was presentat the spot to supervise theoperation.
