The Enforcement Section under SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant’s Town Services Department, took stringent action against encroachers and unauthorised vendors in the township. The unauthorised publicity materials (banners, posters) installed illegally on the major roads of the township, along with the encroachers in the Civic Centre and unauthorised vendors operating in the open-air theatre Civic Centre were removed under a major action by BSP’s Enforcement Department on February 23 and February 24. The illegally installed banners and posters of political parties and other individuals, installed on the electric poles on the main roads of Bhilai Township, from the Equipment Square on Central Avenue Road to Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Square, were removed by the department on February 23, 2024. The enforcement department has removed as many as 7,000 unauthorised banners, posters, and hoardings have been removed from the major roads of the township in the past year.

 

On Saturday, the Enforcement Section under SAIL- BSP's Town Services Department, also took stringent anti-encroachment action against encroachers in the Civic Centre area, which had resulted in a traffic jam in the area for a long time, due to swarming of due to the mobile fast food vans. The encroachers threatened the officials of dire consequences and tried to disrupt the action. It is noteworthy that all these proceedings were taken as per the decree passed by the Honourable Estate Court. During this entire operation, all the officers, employees of the Enforcement Section, and PHD, along with private security guards and women guards were also present.

 

The Civic Centre has been the favorite spot for the encroachment and owing to this, the Enforcement Section has taken several anti-encroachment actions in the Civic Centre area for the past 30-35 years. During the widening of Civic Centre Road, all the shops and vendors located on the road were removed in September 2022, along with the seizure of more than 30 illegal carts from the Civic Centre area from time to time. Action was also taken against more than 250 illegal carts in the township. Acting upon around 300 decrees passed by the Honorable Estate Court, in the last two years, more than 1,000 such proceedings were taken by the Enforcement Section in the presence of Police Force and Magistrate, against illegal occupants.
