Mayor Malti Rai inspects demolition of BRTS corridor

Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor has been demolished from Roshanpura Square to Banganga Square and traffic on this route has been regulated. In next phase, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is dismantling the corridor from Banganga Square to Polytechnic Square. On Wednesday, Mayor Malti Rai, MIC member transportation and traffic Manoj Rathore inspected the area from Banganga to Kamlapark. Routine traffic flow on mix lane on the route from Roshanpura to Banganga has begun. During her visit, Mayor and MIC member asked the concerned contractor to make proper arrangement of smooth traffic and safety of people at service road. They also asked to complete the task within three months and make divider on both side of road where plantation will be mandatory. MIC member Ravindra Yati, Corporator Vimlesh Thakur, Superintendent Engineer R K Saxena and other officials were present during the visit.
 
The civic body has been asked to start removing the corridor from AMPRI to Misrod, Hoshangabad Road within week. After dismantling the BRTS, the ride is widen by 23.40 meters in New Market area. However, construction work for the road divider is continued. After completing the central verge, it will be six lane broad road where plantation will be done for beautification purpose. At present BRTS corridor is being removed at three different places. From Halalpura to Bairagarh almost 80 percent corridor has been removed by PWD. BMC and PWD jointly started demolition of BRTS that is giving people hope to play on a broaden road in city. After removing the corridor from Roshanpura to Kamla Park, road is now wide by 23.40 meters and 3-3 lane in each side is available for commutation of public.
 
People will get six lane road for better commutation and traffic flow is expected to be fair. There will be central verge (divider) of around 1.15 meter and this would be beautify with the plants and flowers. BMC officials said that it is targeted to complete the road within three months. Besides, Lalghati to Collectorate corridor will also be demolish during the same period. Officials said, effort is being made to remove the corridor during day hours and continue repairing work during night.
