In a major breakthrough, Belbagh police nabbed a man with Rs 43 lakh cash of Hawala network at Galgala Square. The arrested has been identified as Piyush Patel, son of Prahlad Bhai Patel, resident of Ijpura village, Mehsana in Gujarat. SHO of Belbagh police station Praveen Kumar Kumhre informed that under the direction of Superintendent of Police, Aditya Pratap Singh (IPS) police have started random search of vehicles in different areas under the supervision of Additional SP (City), Priyanka Shukla (IPS) and CSP, Omti, Pankaj Mishra.
Police were conducting search at Galgala Square. During checking, police spotted a suspected man passing through the area with a bag-pack. Witnessing movement of police, the suspected man tried to escape from the spot but alert cops managed to stop the suspect. During search, police found bundles of currency notes and took the suspect into custody for further inquiry about the cash. The man named himself as Piyush Patel, son of Prahlad Bhai Patel, native of Mahsana area in Gujarat and currently lived as tenant near LIC.
Police found that the man was carrying cash of Rs 43 lakh in his bag. During further questioning, the accused broke out and disclosed that he was carrying cash of Hawala network. Belbagh police have registered a case against the accused under Section 102 of CrPC and handed over the accused to Income Tax Department. The accused was apprehended with active working of police team comprised of Sub-Inspector, Vijay Dhurve, Head Constable, Abdul Saleem, Constables, Mithilesh, Pramod and Rajan.
