IndiGo to elevate services in Bastar

In yet another significant stride towards enhancing transportation infrastructure in the Bastar region, air connectivity is poised to receive a substantial boost with the impending introduction of IndiGo Airlines. Local residents eagerly await the onset of operations, anticipating a new era of accessibility and convenience. The residents of Bastar can anticipate a marked improvement in air transport services with the imminent arrival of Indigo Airlines, slated to initiate operations from March 31 in collaboration with Alliance Airlines. According to official sources, IndiGo’s flights will connect Hyderabad with Jagdalpur and Raipur daily, offering return journeys from Raipur to Hyderabad via Jagdalpur on the same day.
 
In a bid to ensure seamless operations, Vijay Dayaram K, Collector and Chairman of Maa Danteshwari Airport, chaired a meeting of key officials at the airport. Recommendations from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) regarding airport security arrangements were conveyed to Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha during the meeting. Urban development directives issued instruct the Municipal Corporation to refrain from authorizing the construction of 'high-rise buildings' within a 15-kilometer radius along the approach path on both sides of the airport runway. Builders are mandated to secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the NOC branch of the Airport Authority of India. Several development projects are currently underway at the airport, encompassing activities such as marking and filling cracks on the runway, apron, taxiway, obstacle marking, helicopter parking facilities, and the construction of an apron strip near the apron.
 
The Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department has been tasked with ensuring the completion of three pending projects within a month. Besides, the Aviation Department has also been urged for the approval of previously submitted estimates for various works, including runway re-carpeting, construction of an isolation way, perimeter road, boundary wall, continuity wall, drainage system, etc. Officials conducted spot inspections of all ongoing construction activities at the airport to ensure adherence to standards. The meeting was attended by Additional Collector and Nodal Officer C P Baghel, Municipal Commissioner Haresh Mandavi, PWD Executive Engineer A K Singh, Director Airport Videsh Gupta, and other concerned officers.
