RAIPUR,
In response to special directive of Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh, a special campaign was launched under the supervision of senior officers, where a joint effort between the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and local police stations aimed to locate missing mobile phones based on reports submitted by applicants. This concerted effort resulted in the successful tracing and recovery of 601 missing mobile phones from various locations within State and across State borders. The total value of the recovered mobile phones amounted to approximately Rs 1 crore 25 lakh. The recovery process involved technical analysis conducted by the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit, alongside coordination with mobile phone owners to retrieve pertinent information about the lost or stolen devices.
In cases where the mobile phones were found to be switched off, collaboration with law enforcement agencies in other states was essential to verify and recover the devices from individuals in possession of them. Subsequently, arrangements were made to courier the recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners, with some owners opting to collect their devices personally upon notification. Notably, Raipur Police’s efforts transcended state boundaries, with mobile phones being recovered from states such as Odisha, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The significant recovery of such a large number of mobile phones shows the effectiveness of collaborative efforts and the dedication of law enforcement agencies in tackling mobile phone-related crimes.
The Raipur Police emphasizes the importance of prompt reporting of lost or stolen mobile phones through the designated portal, www.ceir.gov.in, and urges the public to contact their nearest police station or cyber cell for assistance. Additionally, maintaining password protection on mobile devices is advised as a preventive measure against cybercrimes. Through heightened awareness and proactive measures, individuals can contribute to the prevention of mobile phone-related offenses and ensure the safety of their personal devices.
