Western Coalfields Limited conducted ‘Coal India First Aid Competition - 2024’ between February 26 and 28 wherein 14 teams of men , 8 teams of women and 7 teams of contractor employees from all the coal producing subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd took active part. Chairman and Managing Director of WCL J P Dwivedi presided over the valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony while chief guest were D Chiddarwar, DDG – Northern Zone, and Ram Avtar Meena, DDG – Western Zone and special guest was A K Singh, Director Technical (Operations/Planning and Projects). In his address, Dwivedi highlighted the importance of first aid facility in coal mining, He said that in case of an accident, this facility should be available immediately. For this purpose, he talked about strengthening the system of first aid.
Senior officials of the Directorate General of Mine Safety, members of Coal India Safety Board, members of Coal Steering Committee and Safety Board were also present. WCL team won the first prize in all overall categories of the competition. S P Singh, former Advisor (Public Relations), WCL and Dr Kaushik Sarkar, Inspector of Mines, DGMS, conducted the proceedings while Deepak Revatkar, General Manager (Security and Protection), WCL proposed the formal vote of thanks.
