“The founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the first Sarsanghachalak Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar had said that RSS is the organisation of the entire society. We are experiencing this since 99 years. The reach is evident from the expansion of Sangh’s work since 2017. The work of the RSS is ongoing in 99 per cent districts of the nation. We will not celebrate the centenary separately, but will take entire society with us,” said Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Sah Sarkaryawah of the RSS. He was interacting with mediapersons at the Swami Dayanand Saraswati premises of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) at Reshimbagh on Friday. Sunil Ambekar, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh was also present on the dias. “Our centenary celebration will begin on Dussehra 2025 and will continue till Dussehra of 2026. Before Dussehra 2025, we will see whether we have completed our work or not. We will try to expand the RSS and will try to strengthen our work. From the centenary year, Swayamsevaks are expected to get involved in social transformation,” said Dr Vaidya.

While briefing the media about the expansion of the Sangh’s work, Dr Vaidya informed, “Sangh Rachana (structure) has 45 ‘Praants’ across the nation followed by ‘Vibhaag’, Districts and then ‘Khands’. RSS has 73,117 daily ‘shakhaas’ in 922 districts, 6,597 ‘khands’ and 27,720 ‘mandals’. Each ‘mandal’ comprises of 12 to 15 villages. The number of ‘Shakhaas’ has witnessed a year-on-year growth of 4,466. These ‘Shakhaas’ include 60 per cent students and 40 per cent of working ‘karyakartas’. Out of these, 11 per cent are people above 40 years of age. There are 27,717 ‘saptahik milan’, which has increased by 840 than the previous year. The present number of Sangh Mandali is 10,567. About 10,000 localities in towns and cities have 43,000 ‘shakhaas’.”

A lot of women participate in various activities run by Sangh. There have been 460 ‘Mahila Samanvaya’ programmes in 44 ‘praants’ and were attended by 5.61 lakh women from Rashtra Sevika Samiti and the women from different organisations. This is vital in view of the centenary year of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and it aims to enhance women’s active participation in Bharatiya chintan and social transformation.

Ahilyabai Holkar’s birth tercentenary year is to be observed between May 2024 and April 2025. The society knows little about great Ahilyabai’s works, who rebuilt religious places and also strived hard for the economic self-reliance of the deprived. Efforts are on to spread awareness across the nation about her contribution. Swayamsevaks will also go door-to-door for raising awareness about voting, added Dr Manmohan Vaidya. The consecration of Lord Ram at Ayodhya witnessed massive outreach programme by the Sangh. The ‘Akshat’ distribution campaign witnessed involvement of 44,98,334 Rambhakts, Swayamsevaks reaching out to 19, 38,49071 families across 5,78,778 villages and 4,727 nagars.
