NAVNIKETAN’S Faiz Sheikh cracked a fine century while leg-spinner Shantanu Chikhale took seven wickets for 41 runs in the match as they went on to thrash Ruby Colts by an innings and 126 runs in the MN Dorairajan Trophy (Multi-Day) Cricket Tournament organised by Vidarbha Cricket Association, on Thursday. After Navniketan bundled out Ruby Colts at 98 thanks to Chikhale’s first innings’ 3-12 and Rajsingh Chavan’s 3-40, Sheikh batted brilliantly and hit 105 as Navniketan posted 329 for seven in 80 overs. Akshay Agarwal (65) and Aditya Ahuja (78 NO) too batted well. In their second innings, Ruby Colts were bundled out for 105 with Chikhale adding four more wickets to his first innings’ three. Alok Wadkar took 4-27 as Navniketan registered an innings win. Chikhale was declared man of the match. In another match, Ministerial Services Sports Club registered an innings and 113 runs victory over VMV Cricket Club. MSSC scored 302, thanks to Shivam Deshmukh’s 127. VMV were then restricted at 96 in their first innings with Harshit Bawne taking 3-14. Following on, VMV could not improve their performance and were bundled out for 93 runs. Gaurav Farde (4-30) and Aditya Doye (3-14) were the main wicket takers for MSSC.
