TO THE FOUR! Nagpur district’s senior men, senior women, junior and sub-junior boys all emerge champs

NAGPUR district teams maintained their supremacy by emerging champions in all the four categories at the Maharashtra State Cycle Polo Championship that concluded at Darshan Colony Library ground, Nandanwan, on Saturday. The two-day tournament was organised by All Maharashtra Cycle Polo Association and Nagpur District Amateur Cycle Polo Association.
Nagpur’s senior men, senior women, junior and sub-junior boys got the better of their rivals in the finals. Senior men thrashed Buldhana 11-4 with Jay Uke scoring four goals. He was well-assisted by Bhushan Shende and Piyush Urkude who found the target on three and two occasions respectively. Mohit Khobragade and Rajneesh Banait scored one each. Buldhana’s Krishna Sawle scored twice while Amol Sawle and Nikhil Gavai hit one each.
In junior boys summit clash, Nagpur thumped Buldhana 7-3.
Bhushan Shende scored four goals while the trio of Dev Banait, Hardik Kamble and Yash Padal slammed home one apiece.
In a high-scoring sub-junior title clash, Nagpur drubbed Gondia 13-7. Shivam Kawle (4), Nityanshu Humne (3), Shaurya Hiwase (3), Ishant Bankhede (3) registered their names on the scoresheet. For the runners-up team, Shubham Gadpayle scored four goals.
In the senior women’s final, Nagpur blanked Akola 8-0 to win the crown. For the winners, Amisha Chaware and Apurva Chaware slammed two goals each. Khushi Deshmukh, Himanshi Thakare and Swara Thakare scored once each.
During the prize distribution function, the men’s trophy was handed over to the champion team by Dr Vinod Jaiswal, President, Nagpur District Amateur Cycle Polo Association.
Dinesh Sarve, General Secretary, Cycle Polo Federation of India gave away Nagpur junior boys the trophy. Chandrakant Tijare presented trophy to sub-junior boys while Sanjay Tijare gave the trophy to senior women’s team.
Gajanan Burde, General Secretary, All Maharashtra Cycle Polo Association made introductory remarks. present the tournament report and conducted the proceedings while Uttam Itankar proposed a vote of thanks.
Pralay Pillewar, Raj Banait, Mahendra Kawale, Mohit Khobragade, Jay Uke, Amisha Chaware, Apurva Chaware, Khushi Deshmukh worked hard for success of tournament.
