NACHIKET Bhute came out with an all-round show to give Ministerial Services Sports Club (MSSC) upper hand over All India Reporter (AIR) on opening day of second round of Vidarbha Cricket Association organised Dorairajan Trophy match on Wednesday. In their Group B under way at Guru Nanak Pharmacy College Ground, Bhute’s rearguard action helped MSSC reach respectable total of 227 all out in 52.3 overs. Coming at number eight when the team was precariously placed, Bhute hammered six boundaries and four sixes for his 89-ball 78. Skipper Mandar Mahale (36; 27b, 4x4, 2x6) was the next best contributor. For AIR, captain Kshitiz Dahiya (12-2-41-4) took four wicket and was assisted by Lalit Yadav and Kaustubh Salve, who picked two wickets each. With ball in his hand, the tall and well-built Bhute proved to be more dangerous. In his seven fiery overs, four of which were maiden, Bhute snared five wickets conceding just ten runs. Sooraj Rai and Mahale chipped in with one apiece as AIR were reeling at 63-7 in 19 overs and still trail by 164 runs.

 

In a Group A match at Shri Binzani City College Ground, Navniketan Cricket Club scored 307-3 in 76 overs riding on brilliant knocks by skipper Yash Kadam (159 batting; 230b, 11x4, 4x6) and Akshay Agarwal (87). Other players who came up with good show include Anurag Kamptee’s Abhishek Pathak (5-148); VMVCC’s Himangshu Bante (109); Abhishek Agrawal (5-69) of Lipton Cricket Club and Medical Representatives Cricket Club’s Piyush Sarvarkar (5-41).
