Expressing his views on the topic ‘Project Management’ Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur and a renowned expert in the area of project management, highlighted the E Sreedharan’s (also known as Metro Man) successful planning and execution of Konkan Railway project. While providing expert guidance on the topic, Dr Metri also gave examples of other mega projects offering practical strategies for effectively planning, executing and delivering successful projects. “One needs to take quick decisions and think beyond to realise the goal. We also need to plan the projects meticulously keeping in mind the ground realities.

 

Then comes the execution part where one has to maintain the pace and deliver it within the stipulated time frame,” he said addressing the business leaders participating in the two-day conclave being held here at IIM Nagpur campus. Further, Dr Metri spoke about the importance of ‘Plan B’. “On couple of occasions, I have seen that the planners had option B in their initial plan but it was not in line with the ground realities which eventually resulted in loss of time and other resources,” he further said.
