CITIIS 2.0 Challenge: Jabalpur selected among 18 cities from 100 smart cities across India

Jabalpur has been selected among the 18 cities, in the national-level competition "CITIIS 2.0 Challenge," organized for the country's top 100 smart cities. Only two cities from Madhya Pradesh are chosen in this challenge. On this significant success, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav have congratulated the citizens, as well as the nodal officer Sambhav Ayachi and other team members for their cleanliness campaign. Singh said the " CITIIS 2.0 Challenge," organized at the national level, aimed to select 18 cities from across the country. He said all cities were required to prepare and submit their proposals on the theme of Integrated Solid Waste Management by January 15, 2024. A total of 84 cities submitted their proposals.
 
In the first phase of the selection process, proposals from only 40 cities were chosen. For the second phase, each city had to present their proposals in front of a jury of 9 team members. For this, on February 7th, Preeti Yadav, Municipal Commissioner of JMC, Nodal Officer Sambhav Ayachi and Balendra Shukla (GIS Expert) presented the proposal in Delhi. Based on the proposals and presentations, Jabalpur is selected. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh informed the names of the selected cities, including Agartala, Agra, Bareilly, Belagavi, Bilaspur, Guwahati, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Madurai, Muzaffarpur, New Town Kolkata, Panaji, Rajkot, Srinagar, Tanjavur, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Ujjain.
 
He said Jabalpur is chosen in the CITIIS 2.0 Challenge, Jabalpur Smart City Limited will receive a central assistance of 135 crores to strengthen the city's healthcare system. Additionally, 20 per cent of the city's transportation will be self-driven. Sambhav Ayachi, nodal officer for the cleanliness team, said the proposal presented in this challenge led to the selection of Jabalpur in the CITIIS 2.0 Challenge. Under CITIIS 2.0 Challenge, various initiatives will be undertaken in Jabalpur, including establishment of a bio CNG plant for wet waste management, new automated transfer stations and the upgradation of waste-to-energy plants.
