KRUPAL Wanjari won the Nagpur District 88th Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar on Sunday.

In all 32 players including 19 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total six rounds were played. A total cash prizes of Rs 5,000 was distributed among top 10 players of the tournament. On the top board match of the sixth round, playing with white pieces, Wanjari defeated Ishwar Ramteke for his sixth win in a row.

 

On second board, Shraddha Bajaj and Harsh Nachankar played a draw to end on 4.5 points each. Lohit Rushikesh, playing with black pieces, got the better of Omprakash Soni on the third board. Aditya Ukey, also playing black, beat Aditya Kamlapurkar on board number four. As many as four players — Ishwar Ramteke, Aditya Ukey, Amol Ramteke and Vidhi Mishrikotkar ended in top ten bracket with four points each. Prizes were distributed at the hands of IA Pravin Pantawane.

 

Krupal Wanjari (6) bt Ishwar Ramteke (4), Shraddha Bajaj (4.5) drew with Harsh Nachankar (4.5), Omprakash Soni (3.5) lost to Rushikesh Lohit (5), Aditya Kamlapurkar (3) lost to Aditya Ukey (4), Amol Ramteke (4) bt Junghare Avanti (3), Sanjay Bhange (3.5) drew with Sthaanu Pal (3.5), Vidhi Mishrikotkar (4) bt Aditya Junghare (3), Sudesh Nitnaore (3) lost to Chandrashekhar Sable (3.5), Pramod Ramteke (3) bt Abhishek Mitra (2), Sankalp Patil (3) bt Samarth Gupta (2).
