PROPERTY worth several lakhs gutted in a devastating fire outbreak at a chemical factory that located at Light Industrial Area (LIA) in Bhilai on Monday evening. After information, the fire fighters from Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), ACC, District Fire Brigade Services, J K Lakshmi and other agencies rushed to the troubled location and pressed into services several water and foam tenders to douse the fire. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. The fire fighting was continued till the last report came in. On learning about the incident, the senior police officials rushed to the location and summoned the police teams from various police stations in the adjoining locations, at the scene to avert the possibility of any untoward incident.
According to information at around 6:20 pm on Monday, a massive fire broke out at the AMG Chemical, located at LIA in Bhilai and soon after the flames and smoke started reaching high in the sky. After information the well equipped fire fighting teams from various agencies reached the location immediately and pressed water and foam tenders into services. Nagendra Singh, District Fire Officer informed that the fire fighting is still continued and so far several water and foam tenders have been pressed into services. He also informed that the fire fighters putting in best to bring the fire under control. However the expert agencies will finally ascertain the cause of fire but as per information recorded so far the fire could possibly be the outcome of sudden spark when unloading of thinner stock was in progress at the chemical factory.
The workers engaged in unloading works managed to run away quickly and escaped injuries. Harshit Patil, CSP, Chhaoni Police Subdivision told the newspaper that after information police teams from various police stations reached the spot immediately and cordoned off the area to avert any eventuality during fire fighting. He also said that it is a massive fire and fire fighting is still in progress. There is no report of casualty or injury to any person in the mishap so far.
