SEVERAL Electric Vehicles (EV) gutted after fire broke out at a triple-storey showroom of electric vehicles at a dense market place at Nandini Road in Bhilai on Sunday morning. The showroom was closed at the time of mishap hence no one was hurt. After information the fire fighters from District Fire Brigade Services reached the troubled location immediately and doused fire completely. Police sources informed that at about 10:20 am on Sunday, the shopkeepers raised alarm after noticing emission of thick smoke from the closed Surya Motors, the electric vehicle showroom in the market and informed its owner and police control room. On information fire fighting squads reached the troubled location and managed to put out the fire while also managing to take out several electric vehicles.
 
After information Chhaoni police also reached the spot and initiated necessary measures while checking any eventuality during fire fighting. Chandan Sharma informed that it is the partnership firms and that he was one its two partners. He informed that it is a very strange incident as they always put off main power-switch and there was hardly the stock of fresh batteries at the showroom except those of discarded ones. He also ruled out the possibility of involvement of miscreants as fire broke out after 10 am in the morning. He also informed that about 18 to 20 EVs gutted in fire mishap. However, the committed fire fighting squads managed to take out 8 to 10 EVs of customers at the showroom for servicing.
 
The estimated loss could be more than Rs 20 lakh as along with several EVs, whole interiors, air-conditioners, furniture, computers etc were destroyed in fire mishap. However he has to look into insurance cover to assess the actual loss. SHO, Chhaoni Police Station C S Chandrakar informed that on information Chhavni police team reached the spot immediately and initiated due measures for safety of people. The police have recorded the incident and seeking reports from expert agencies in the matter.
