SQUADRON Football Club and Eagle Sports Club will lock horns in the final of the JSW NDFA Women’s League Tournament on Thursday. In the semi-finals played at Dr Ambedkar Stadium in Suyog Nagar, Squadron FC defeated Indian Friends Football Club, Chankapur 2-0 while Eagle Sports Club thrashed of Rising Star Club 4-0. In the first semi-final, it was Krutika Raut’s brace which helped Squadron record a win. Krutika was on target in the 22nd minute of play. IFFC did well to contain the Squadron forwards for over 20 minutes but a gap in the defence in the 22nd minute gave Squadron chance to breach the defence wall. In the second half, Krutika was once again left unmarked and she made no mistake in doubling the lead.

IFFC Chankapur’s Tina and Minal were cautioned by referee with green card. In the second semi-final, Sejal Sonare was on target twice while Mahek Sheikh and Sneha Uikey bulged the net once as they scored a one-sided win. Sejal opened the account for Eagle in the 6th minute and Mahek Sheikh doubled the lead in the 18th. Sejal was once again in the spotlight as she scored her second and team’s third goal in the 35th minute. In the dying minutes Sneha Uikey (50th) rounded it off scoring the fourth goal. Tomorrow’s fixtures: Lashkaribag vs Cradle (4 pm); Star FA vs DDSY (5 pm); C Rly vs Noble FC (6 pm).
