The remarkable efforts of inmates at Central Jail Nagpur have been highlighted by their staggering production output over the past year. The prison administration has witnessed a surge in productivity which resulted in a major financial contribution of nearly Rs 2.5 crore by the inmates. Under the theme of ‘Reformation and Rehabilitation,’ the prison administration has consistently engaged to enhance the lives of inmates. Through skill-based training programs, inmates are equipped with the necessary skills to reintegrate into society upon completion of their sentences. The items produced by inmates not only serve as a means of personal development but also as a source of financial support for their families which even covers their daily needs and legal fees.

Last year, a record-breaking achievement was witnessed, the Jail administration earned a substantial income through theskilled work of 166 jail inmates. In addition to manufacturing, the prison also engages in agriculture. From April 2023 to March 2024, the institution generated an impressive income of Rs 29.50 lakh from agriculture. The quality and durability of goods manufactured within the prison walls have not gone unnoticed, especially within judicial circles. Annually, during Diwali, a sale and exhibition of prison-produced goods is organized which attracts many for their superior craftsmanship.
 
Wooden and iron furniture, in particular, have gained popularity and are increasingly becoming the preferred choice for courts. Products from Nagpur Jail are sought in courts in neighbouring districts such as Arvi, Washim, Bhandara, and across the Vidarbha region. The Central Jail Nagpur has received a large number of orders to supply furniture to numerous government offices, including four courts in Vidarbha.
