The Crime Branch personnel have arrested five accused of smuggling illegal weapons. The accused have been identified as Abhishek Dwivedi, Abhimanyu Mishra (Mannu), Atul Verma, Jagdish Dubey and Anshu Giri. The arrests were made based on a tip-off received by the Crime Branch, indicating that the accused were planning to commit a crime in the city. Acting on the tip-off and under the guidance of senior officials, the Crime Branch team reached the spot in Gautam Nagar and apprehended the accused.

 

The team also seized two country-made pistols, seven live rounds, a sharp iron axle, and two two-wheelers from the accused. According to the Crime Branch, the accused have been booked under sections 25, 27 of the Arms Act. They have been presented in the court and remanded in police custody. The accused also have previous crimes registered against them.
