In a big move, civic body is mulling to shift weekly markets which are creating huge trouble for commuters at a proper place. Taking a note of the casualties and chaos in such weekly markets, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is now planning to devise proper strategy to shift such markets which are causing trouble and obstructing proper flow of traffic and pedestrians in the city. According to BMC, deliberations at various levels have been initiated for transferring these troubling markets to their appropriate place and to make such allocate such places for the same. The corporation has emphasised that all such type of the markets will be shifted soon. Notably, these regular and weekly ‘haat’ markets are organised at various places in the city including Nehru Nagar, Arera Hills, Piplani, New Market and Karond among other places.

 

If all goes well, citizens and commuters may have relief from chaotic weekly markets which are being operated from the main roads and without any specific land beiing alloted to them. “Unfortunately, the corporation has not been successful in shifting these markets. But we have incorporated various measures and I can assure that soon the markets will be shifted.” Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan assured. On being asked about any possible hindrances which is preventing the civic body from shifting these markets or the interference of local groups or pressure groups, the Commissioner denied such possibilities. Highlighting the challenge in such shiftings, he said, “the major challenge in to make the hawkers of the market explain that there sales will not be affected by such measures.”
