CITY’S doubles specialist pair of Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi sailed into second round of the Perodua Malaysian Masters 2024, being held at Kuala Lumpur. Facing Thailand’s combination of Phattharin A and Napapakorn Tunsistan, Ritika and Simran played to their plan and executed the same very well to win in straight games with the scores reading 21-14, 21-13 to enter the second round of this BWF Super World Tour 500 Tournament. The Indian pair now run into second seeds and home favourites Pearly Tan and Thinaah Murlitharan , where they have their task cut out.

 

Speaking on their match, Ritika said they were happy with the result and feel good that they have started beating Asian players. It can be mentioned that they had beaten a Malaysian pair to enter main draw at Asian Badminton Championships recently, and also beat Singapore pair in the Uber Cup where India made it to the quarter-finals. There is no other Nagpur player participating in the tournament. Ritika and Simran practice at Suchitra Academy at Hyderabad and at Ajay Dayal Badminton Academy when in Nagpur.
