In a compassionate gesture, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bhawna Bohra has committed to adopt 24 children who were orphaned by a recent tragic road accident in the district that occurred in the jurisdiction of the Kukdoor Police Station in Pandariya block. The accident claimed the lives of 19 Baiga tribals and left nearly half a dozen people injured. The horrific crash happened when a pickup truck carrying around 25 labourers plunged into a 20-feet deep trench near Bahpani village. These labourers were returning home after plucking Tendu leaves in the nearby forest. During her visit to the grieving families on Tuesday, MLA Bhawna Bohra expressed her condolences and announced her commitment to covering the entire expenses for the education and marriage of the orphaned children. She also pledged to ensure they are provided with employment opportunities.

In a statement shared on X, she acknowledged the deep sorrow experienced by the affected families and vowed to ease their suffering through her guardianship. The victims of the accident were laid to rest on Tuesday at Semrah village, with two women being given their last rites at their in-laws’ residences. Despite being in Kolkata at the time of the accident, MLA Bhawna Bohra immediately called off her engagements and returned to her constituency upon hearing of the tragedy, demonstrating her commitment to supporting the bereaved families.
