Bhopal BHEL registers 42 per cent growth in profit this financial year

With getting orders of equipment for 80 Vande Bharat trains, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Bhopal will continue its growth journey in this financial year and sets target of Rs 4,275 Talking to the media, SM Ramanathan, Executive Director, BHEL, Bhopal, said that Bhopal BHEL excelled well among its other counterparts in terms of order receiving and achieving the target of a Turnover of Rs 3,403 crore (15% more than the year 2022-23) and earned a profit before tax of Rs 98 crore (42% more than 2022-23) which is a significant achievement in the current competitive business environment. Major contribution for the equipment of the Vande Bharat projects will be made by BHEL’s manufacturing units in Bhopal. Highlighting breakthrough, he said earlier BHEL, Tiruchirappalli used to be emerged as a sole player at top most position. But this time, BHOPAL unit broke records and performed well in several categories. State-run engineering firm BHEL its MP unit has recorded 100 percent growth in getting orders of power while that of manufacturing e.g. transporation sector is 22 percent.
 
On clean energy initiative: Replying to a Hitavada’s query about its initiative regarding the clean energy approach, he said although other two units are working on green Hydrogen, but Bhopal unit is working on pump storage units as an substitute of Battery. These units will be supplied to NTPC, NHPC etc. Over no new recruitment, B K Singh, General Manager (HR), said that since it is being done at center and there is no separate recruitment at each unit. It can’t be said Bhopal unit has not recruited new members since long time. In recently past engineers have been recruited. He denied any issue with the district administration over use of BHEL’s land. He highlighted that the company has taken care of the interests of all its employees and stakeholders even in the most difficult circumstances and today when it is very difficult to make profit due to competition, BHEL has achieved a respectable turnover and have earned profit.
 
He said that the same has been possible due to their hard work and dedication. In the financial year 2023-24, BHEL, Bhopal has achieved the title of the top unit in performance at the corporation level. While thanking all the departments of the unit for achieving the set target, Ramanathan said that BHEL has achieved a turnover of Rs 3,403 crore (15% more than the year 2022-23) and earned a profit before tax of Rs. 98 crore (42% more than 2022-23) which is a significant achievement in the current competitive business environment. Undoubtedly, today BHEL and BHEL, Bhopal have a very good order book, but it is our responsibility to complete all these orders within the stipulated time limit.
 
This state-run unit focuses on making the design, process and working systems simpler and easy to reduce the cost of the product. Ramanathan said that in the next financial year we not only have to achieve more turnover but also have to earn more profit while ensuring all the standards of production. R K Aggarwal, General Manager (CPX), gave a presentation on the performance by BHEL, Bhopal in the year 2023-24. He said that BHEL Corporation has achieved a total turnover of Rs 22920 crore during the financial year 2023-24 which is 3.5% more than the previous year 2022-23. Similarly, the company earned a profit after tax of Rs 260 crore. The company has booked orders worth Rs 77907 crore in the year 2023-24 which is 231% higher than the orders received for 2022-23 worth Rs. 23548 crore. This is a testament to the trust and confidence of customers towards BHEL products. He shared information about the performance of various departments of Bhopal Unit and the achievements of the unit.
