Bemetara,
The rescue operation, guided by the Indian Army, NDRF and SDRF, in the tragic Bemetara blast incident, concluded. Regrettably, the missing individuals have not yet been located. Local villagers have filed missing persons reports for eight individuals at the Kandarka police outpost. According to the information received, Raju Dhruv, Neeraj Dhruv, Shankar Yadav, Narhar Yadu, Dagendra Sahu, Loknath Yadav, Vijay Kumar and Pushpraj are among the labourers reported missing. However, no FIR has been lodged against the factory owner thus far. Reportedly, the police personnel stationed at the incident site have faced challenges due to a lack of water and food supplies, forcing them to procure necessities from Borsi village, located two kilometres away. In the meantime, the villagers are demanding compensation of Rs 50 lakh per deceased from the company owner, Rs 5 lakh from the government and government jobs for the affected families.
They have declared to continue their protests until these demands are met. In response to the situation, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij has established an eight-member committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. Superintendent of Police Ramkrishna Sahu has confirmed that missing persons reports for the eight labourers have been filed at the Kandarka police outpost and assured that proper investigation is under way. Collector Ranbir Sharma stated that small body fragments have been collected for DNA testing. Once the testing is complete, the remains will be matched and returned to the families. Previously, Bemetara MLA Deepesh Sahu suspended his election campaign in Jharkhand to visit Pirda village.
There, he met with protesters outside the factory and the families of victims and pledged necessary support to the families and assured them of government assistance. MLA Sahu extended his condolences to families and emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting the affected workers’ families. MLA instructed Durg Range IG, Collector and SP to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, providing justice to the deceased and injured. He also directed for measures to be implemented to prevent such incidents from occurring in future.
